Wednesday = Progress!

In everything, give thanks! The heat of the day was very conducive to working inside in the A/C=progress in my studio!

Here's DH putting down the cherry oak laminate flooring. This afternoon we installed the white wooden baseboards. I wonder what tomorrow will bring? Another hot, humid day for sure! We have one more black countertop to install along an additional wall. It just could happen tomorrow...it has been fun saving the "before and after" pix to see the progress.

Change is good. I can only imagine how much I'll be able to accomplish when all my work items are in one room!

Between painting and nailing baseboards, I completed layouts using CTMH's Giggles & Grins, Rustic Trails, and Summer Days--all these are getting mailed to Alabama tomorrow to help put an album together for a special young boy whose father was killed recently in Iraq.

Minimalist Me

While waiting for the glossy black paint to dry on My Studio's counter tops, I created a birthday card for my brother the Fisherman, and for my dear friend. These were both fast, simple, and fun! I get great satisfaction creating something out of nearly nothing--and as you can see from my art posts, I have a very minimalist design concept in most things I do. Some days I use more layers than others. Most days I keep it simple.

My parents, my aunts and uncles, my DH, and others who have lived through good and rough times, have all had an impact on how I save and recycle items. One of those categories is greeting cards. If a beautiful card has another "life" after landing in my mailbox, I'm sure to cut it up and find another use for it!

To me, less is more.

Isn't it great that God made each one of us so uniquely and so special? That's a GOOD thing! Celebrate life and all its gifts!

Green Herb -- My Studio in Progress

Progress is slow but sure in My Studio ... The 30 year old gold shag carpeting (which is now back in style) is outta here! Yesterday I chose "green herb" for the wall color. When I saw the gift bag & wrapping paper at Hallmark, I knew immediately that the green, pink, orange, and white would be my color palette. The gray old-office countertop will become black to match the filing cabinets.

It's raining today--not a good day to brush or roll--so I'll scrap instead and hope that the adhesives hold well!
