Noel Card

A card made by Sandy Trammel inspired my "Noel" card --
I regret not bookmarking the link, but will add it when I find it eventually!

I used: Kraft paper, burlap ribbon, CTMH Cricut cartridges for the poinsettia
and the Noel title, Sparkles and Liquid Glass.
I photocopied the Christmas carol from a songbook we've used through the years and printed it on Colonial White cardstock to keep the vintage look.

This is one of my favorite cards so far since I love playing music,
and my favorite color is red!

Blessed!

Blessed Thanksgiving!

O, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good!

We thank God for all of our blessings -- too many to list!

The "BLESSED" banner dressed up the fireplace
for this Autumn season.

I used Huntington Papers along with the Glitter Paper
from CTMH,
and Sparkles, AND the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge
for the letters and the leaf and acorn shapes.

Here's a peek at the paper turkeys (Hershey Nugget for the body)
that will flock to our Thanksgiving table
at each person's place setting.

I used a variety of retired fall-colored papers to make them.
The feathers are cut by using a Marvy punch,
and trimming the middle to 3/4
and the front to 1/2 the circle.

Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

Sparkle & Shine Christmas Cubes

This trio of cubes was fun to make
using the CTMH Sparkle & Shine papers
and the CTMH Cricut cartridges too!

Turn the cubes and have a different message and scene each turn!

It's Time to Sparkle & Shine!

The new Sparkle & Shine papers
from Close To My Heart's "Holidays from the Heart" gift guide
are so pretty and versatile!

I added strips of shimmer trim between the die cut ornament layers
for extra sparkle ...

Remember to add a surprise INSIDE your cards too!
More sparkle is layered here on top of a strip of the patterned paper.

I left the inside empty to attach a family photo.
How many of these will I be able to finish before December 10,
the date circled on my calendar to "get cards mailed at the P.O.!" ?

Now--just a reminder--here's the new mini catalog that went live October 15
and you can order from it through December 31st.

When you order $100 or more in retail items from
this new Holidays from the Heart mini catalog,
you'll be able to choose a free "starred item" in the booklet.

Click HERE to see the catalog!

Have fun making beautiful Christmas cards, layouts,
and dimensional home art projects too!

I {Heart} Flip Flaps!

Laughing Lola Layout with Flip Flaps on left, top, and right
(After taking the photo, I moved the top Flip Flap to the right so it was even with the layout page.
Photos were taken with the Memory Page Protectors on, creating a slight glare.)

Left side, Flip Flap closed

Right side, Flip Flap closed & top, Flip Flap down

Right side, Flip Flap open

Look! Look and see!
Look and see how Flip Flaps can add photo space to your layout!
Here's my original two-page layout where I used only two photos.

By using three of the 6 x 12 inch Flip Flaps,
I was able to add SEVEN more photos and areas for stamping!

I have SO much more fun scrapbooking memory album pages
with the help of Close To My Heart's Flip Flaps.

They're available in a:
*  Small Assortment (4 each of the 2 inch square; 3 inch square; 3 x 4 inches; and 4 inch square)
*  Ten-pack of 6 inch squares
*  12 Inch Assortment (4 of the 6 x 12 inch, 2 of the 4 x 12 inch, and 2 of the 8 x 12 inch)
*  Photo Size (15 of the 4 x 6 inch)
You can find Flip Flaps in the NEW Autumn/Winter Idea Book on page 135.
It's simple to slide your photos and artwork into the pockets,
and attach the Flip Flaps to your Memory Page Protector with the adhesive strips.

I'm laughing and flipping over Laughing Lola papers and these great Flip Flaps!

Ghirardelli Filled Purses

Happy National Teachers' Week! Happy National Nurses' Week! Happy Name the Baby Elephant Week! Happy Hummingbirds Return Week! Happy Pickles on Peanut Butter Sandwiches Week! Happy everything!

These pretty "For Always" (the gray & black on the one on left) and "Dream Pop" papers (three on the right) make me feel happy all the time.

Four special teachers are going to get these, and each one holds a few Ghirardelli Chocolate Squares just perfectly. Everybody needs a little dark chocolate with raspberry filling in her life.

The CTMH Artiste Cricut cartridge cuts the little 5 inch purse shapes. I used the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge to cut the floral shapes. For the closure tabs, I used a variety of CTMH embellishments. It's so much fun to use the pretty shimmer tape and the washi tape! Velcro dots hold the closure tabs securely.

Hope your week, however you label it and celebrate it, is full of fun and celebration!

Art Philosophy Cricut Flower

Here's another CAS (clean and simple) card.

Use your imagination here ... the card base is colonial white (the colors aren't so true here with harsh indoor lighting and the phone camera).

A dear friend is having a knee replacement surgery and I'm going to tuck this little card into a "pamper yourself" goodie bag for her hospital stay.

I'm enjoying using the AP cartridge and learning how to make a variety of flowers and other pretty embellishments! If you haven't gotten yours yet, check it out in the Spring/Summer Idea Book on my site: http://janeellinghaas.ctmh.com  or just click HERE for the shopping page link.

I used CTMH products:  Miracle Kit papers; Garden Green ribbon; Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge to make the rose; Opaque Pearl; Sweet Leaf and Crystal Blue inks; Liquid Glass

Other: Verve stamped sentiment

I'm glad you stopped by!

H2H Challenge: Using Ribbon

Here's my entry for the "Ribbon" challenge at Heart 2 Heart this week.

And I always like to make the inside of a card eye appealing too ...

This week's challenge at Heart 2 Heart was to use ribbon on a paper art project.

You can see the blog entries HERE. So many creative people take time to make special paper items--cards, layouts, altered art -- and post their entries. They are so inspiring!

I used the Close To My Heart "Bliss" papers to create a thank you card for neighbors who have been so helpful in getting our mail when we go out of town. A big plate of homemade cookies will accompany this card to help them know how much they are loved.

The CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge has hundreds of designs, including this die cut flower -- I used Liquid Glass to adhere the flowers. If it hadn't dried so quickly and stuck so well, I would have lifted a couple flowers and placed them a bit better ... but practice makes perfect.

This is the first time I've used ribbon in a dual "band" and a duo of bows to accent a card.

The Opaque Pearls give the card a finishing touch for the flower centers and top accents.

My P&S camera bit the dust so I had to capture this card with my phone camera--not the best quality, and not so great at showing these special flowers, but thanks for "getting the picture" as best you can!

Now take a look at every's challenge entries and be inspired!  Happy weekend! I hope birds and butterflies are soaring around you.

Lucy & Flutter-by in Five Layers

I'm totally stuck on the pretty Lucy papers from CTMH! Flowers and butterflies are my all-time favorite design elements. The inside of this 5 x 7 card is blank, to be used as a notecard.

I used CTMH ivory cardstock, Lucy papers, Flutter butterfly shape, Lucy Glittery Rub Ons, the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge to cut the flower center, foam squares (under each scalloped circle), and a Pearl Opaque.

Other: sheer ribbon, glue dots, and Marvy punches.

If you haven't gotten your Lucy papers, whatcha waitin' for?

Just a reminder that you can browse the new Idea Book and even order fast and easily online by visiting my site: http://janeehaas.myctmh.com

Next ups:  A CAS (clean and simple) card using more Lucy papers AND a two-page layout of an adorable itty bitty girl.  Thanks for visiting my blog!

I'm Liking Lucy!

The Lucy paper packet and the Lucy Complements Glittery Rub-Ons are new items in the Close To My Heart Spring/Summer Idea Book. The Lucy colors include Blush, Creme Brulee, Sweet Leaf, and Grey Wool.

I used two rub-on florals on the front of the clear card (inside the Cricut-cut medallion frame in Hollyhock) and one on the inside of the card on top of the diamond-patterned paper.

The Sweet Leaf butterfly is a die cut from the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. The Hollyhock paper butterfly is a M-S punch.  The small printed butterflies are CTMH's Flutter Paper Shapes.  Small glue dots and CTMH Bonding Memories help to adhere all the parts of this card.

The stamp "Our Love" is from an older stamp set, Celebrate Life. I used Hollyhock ink.

Clear cards are clearly my favorites when I'm in the cardmaking zone!

Thanks for visiting and for leaving your comment!

It's a Winter Wonderland Somewhere

A year ago, we had snowstorm after snowstorm, compiled with ice storms.

This year, I'm happy to look at last year's snow photos.

Yes, I do enjoy sledding down our backyard hill.

No, DH doesn't enjoy snow-blowing.

Thank You, God, for this mild winter so far! We both agree that we could easily be Padre Island snowbirds.

I used CTMH Wonderland papers, big dimensional alphabets, Sparkles, Let It Snow stamp set, Twilight ink, and an Art Philosophy Cricut-cut snowflake with a Juniper Twinkle brad.

Christmas and Winter Gift Boxes

Friends liked the Thanksgiving treat boxes so much that I invited a group to create Christmas and Winter gift boxes and to get to know what FUN things they can make with the Art Philosophy cartridge and Cricut.

For my workshop, I pre-cut the first set of Cricut shapes for each person and made these "kits."

Participants brought their Cricuts and we made time to experiment with other designs too. We also learned how to use the Glitter Rub Ons and found out how pretty they are -- they'll be showing up on some gift tags for sure!

Here are two boxes and my easy tutorials from this afternoon's workshop:

Joy Joy Joy – Little Christmas Gift Box
1.      Use Cricut to cut the gift box from cardstock (done for you).
2.      Use bone folder to fold the box along the fold lines.
3.     While box is flat, use adhesive to attach Christmas paper squares to front and back.
4.     Stamp flower design (Olive ink) onto flower shape (cut from Cricut for you). Attach flower to box using a pop dot. Attach mini sparkle to the middle of flower.
5.     Adhere ornament shape (cut from Cricut for you) to the punched scallop edged circle, allowing space to put ribbon through the hole at the top. Attach large Sparkle to center of flower.
6.     Stamp “Joy” (Hollyhock ink) onto the small tag. Attach mini sparkles to the “O” in the Joys.
7.     Refold the box to make its shape. Use Tombow or Bonding Memories adhesive (or any other strong-holding adhesive) to the narrow edge & attach it to the box side; hold firmly.
8.     Bend small flaps at bottom of box in, then place adhesive along one of the larger flaps & hold firmly against the other large flap.
9.     Attach ornament shape and “Joy” tag to the box handle with ribbon.
10.  Fill with wrapped candies—chocolates, peppermints, small candy canes or lollipops, or any small treat.

You Warm My Heart – Little Winter Gift Box
1.     Use Cricut to cut the gift box (done for you).
2.     Use the bone folder to fold the box along the fold lines.
3.     While the box is flat, use Bonding Memories or Tombow (or your favorite strong adhesive) to adhere the “Wonderland” striped paper across the top of the box. Make sure the printed words are right side up.
4.     Adhere the dotted patterned paper to the box front.
5.     Stamp the mug shape onto the ivory paper using the Crystal Blue ink. Then stamp the mug words onto the blue mug using the Desert Sand ink. Cut out the mug shape.  Embellish with pearls for the marshmallows. Attach to the box front dotted paper with two pop dots.
6.     Refold the box to make its shape. Use Tombow or Bonding Memories adhesive (or any other strong-holding adhesive) to the narrow edge & attach it to the box side; hold firmly.
7.     Bend small flaps at bottom of box in, then place adhesive along one of the larger flaps & hold firmly against the other large flap.
8.     Use the blue and/or sand ink to stamp “You warm my heart” onto the front and back of the tag. Cut the tag to round the bottom corners. Tie to the box handle and cut off string ends.
9.     Tie the chocolate brown and the sheer ribbons to the box handle.
10.  Fill with any warm treat—hot cocoa mix, cider mix, special tea bags.

enJOY!  Blessed Advent. Come, Lord Jesus, come!

I'm so thankful for a morning of creative time!

I used the CTMH Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge to create these 5.5 inch treat boxes
for special teachers and children's caregivers.
They're filled with Hershey dark and Air Delight kisses.

I'm grateful for caring people in the lives of children,
and the theme is Gratitude at the Heart2Heart Challenges!
Be sure to check out all the creative entries there!

CTMH products used: A variety of Roxie, Splendor, Felicity, Twitterpated
and Kraft papers and coordinating inks;
dimensional star and heart die cuts; die cut tags;
Sparkles; You and Me ribbon, and markers.
Other: ribbon & raffia

Thanks for stopping by to look --
I've had quite a few months of being M.I.A.
from the creative table and blogging world.
If you've been praying for our family, just know how much I -- and we all -- appreciate that!

Happy and blessed THANKSgiving and THANKSliving!
