Not So Shy DH

DH always has a photogenic smile, even when he's sleepy. Really.

What's that growing out of your neck?

Okay, let's go in...the skeeters are hungry! Slap! That woke him up.

It's a happy talent to know how to play.
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

We're getting glorious Fall days and nights,
great for planting mums and for watching
the does with their fawns.
They come to feast on the persimmons
in the back yard.
They play tag and romp and leap.
But they don't like my camera.

So I thought I'd post a not-so-shy dear.

I caught DH being a bit playful
as he and I were in the yard putting away the spinners
and deciding where to plant new daffodils & tulips.
Now if the dear deer & chipmunks would just leave them alone.

Twitterpated Display Album

I've been working on a Close To My Heart display album for a baby shower gift. I'm using Twitterpated paper packets and the coordinating Stickease,
along with coordinating ribbons--a natural pick
for the nature-loving family.
This matches the "for baby" card posted previously.

Here are some sample pages.
The album begins with "The Day You Were Born"
and then each following page is a designated "month" milestone,
ending with the 12 month "happy birthday" page
on the back inside cover.
The parents can add their baby's milestone photos
and their comments/memories to the monthly pages that flip.

A new baby is always God's sign that He wants His world to continue!
This baby has been anxiously awaited and will be dearly welcomed.
Her parents will teach her of God's love and of the importance
of caring for His beautiful world.
I'm looking for a special verse for the back of the album.
So...there's always more work to do, a happy, fun work,
from my heart to your hands.

A photo of the finished product is to come,
bedecked with lottsa ribbons along the top!
A girl hasta have some ribbons!

So please check back in a few days!

Twitterpated For Baby

A friend's daughter's baby shower is coming up.
This is the card in earthy colors since they are her choice for the
"nature lover's nursery." The display album for the new little baby girl's
first year of photos will showcase these papers too,
along with rabbits, deer, owls, and more mushrooms.
I LOVE new babies! AND new grandmas too!

Thanks for taking a look!
I used:
Twitterpated papers & Stickease; CTMH inks; Liquid Glass; Sorbet ribbon
Not CTMH: MS border punch & pink paper

Moon Doggie Splash Layout

Summer fun at our house includes playing in water ANY way we can--the kiddie pool, a sprinkler, squirt guns, watering cans, the rec center pools and fountains. You get it. Summer in St. Louis can be nearly INtolerable, but a little more tolerable with water play.

Here are our grand-girls, my favorite subjects to scrap!

Ella, a new "Three", has the most fun pouring water down the front of her swimsuit or down OUR fronts and then giggles herself silly! Beatrice, 8 months in these pix, is just plain happy to sit, splash, and splash some more. Neither ever wants to get out of the pool. So each is a prune by the time she gets towel-dried & ready for story time and the blessing of A/C.

We'll feel so warm when we look at these layouts and reminisce during the winter months!

I used: Moon Doggie papers, colonial white cardstock, big brads, dimensional elements, Indian Corn Blue & Desert Sand inks, August Word Puzzle stamps, waxy flax

Harvest Home Circle Card

It's almost Fall! And close to a full moon too. Weird things happen about this time. We're beginning to wonder if our house is a lightning magnet. It's the THIRD time now for our property to be struck.

We had a terrific thunderstorm go through last night. Along with almost 3 inches of rain in flash flooding, a bold of lightning hit our largest oak tree in the front yard. The trunk is damaged, but we hope to save it with a tree doctor's advice. Did I ever JUMP! See Jane. See Jane jump!

This morning we discovered none of our yard lights work, the garage door opener is fried, and our surround sound system is a gonner. Two circuit breakers were hit. The good thing is that our roof DOESN'T leak! Thank You, Lord.

I had just finished this "Harvest Home" card before turning everything off and heading to bed.

Tomorrow looks like it'll be a good Dontooning day at the lake after a call to our insurance company.

We're grateFUL.

I used:
Olivia paper packet, Harvest Home stamps, itty bitty brads, Autumn Terracotta & Garden Green inks, blending pen, circle card & envelope, chocolate ink for distressing edges

We Love VBS Layout

This summer our SIL, Christopher, led their church's VBS music and the children's closing service. He did a great job, and the kids loved his leadership, humor, and song choices to reinforce their Bible story themes. He's definitely born to play music, especially his sax. But for VBS, he used his new guitar to accompany the kids from preschool through grade 8. And though he doesn't think so, I think he's born to sing too.

It was Ella's first experience at VBS, in the preschool class, and she loved it! She still talks about her teacher, Miss Renee, and all her new friends, whom she continues to see at Sunday worship.

Emily helped in the preschool room where Bea took her morning nap, and the entire family had a great VBS week. It was fun to create this layout for them using the colorful "You Rock" papers.

I played with the circle theme within the You Rock paper designs, and cut a circle for page 1 to highlight "born to sing", used the Spot on Backgrounds to give some texture to the blue journaling pocket, punched circles using CTMH's new circle punch, and chose tags that had circular punched holes too. Flip Flaps on page 2 allowed me to include additional photos of the week's highlights.

Thanks for visiting my blog and for your kind comments!

CTMH "You Rock" papers, Gold rush, Outdoor Denim & Crystal Blue inks, Spot on Backgrounds stamp, Summer Carnival Sassy Strands, Big Brads, Oxford Color Ready Alphabet, Irresistibles Lots of Dots alpha, Flip Flaps, Dimensional Element tag, arrow & heart, circle punch, design from Reflections "Treasure Pocket Accent"; journaling tags not CTMH.

Olivia Card

The colors in the Olivia paper packet are so rich--barn reds, golds, greens, and oranges! It makes me like Autumn just a little bit better than I usually do!

Clear cards are fun to make--it just takes a little bit of planning to place the paper sections so that the adhesive doesn't show, and so that the inside sentiment is a surprise when the card is opened.  Even the back of the card is pretty with the double-sided peachy-colored leaf paper pattern showing through the acrylic.

With the recent rains and wind this week, our leaves are falling fast. The deck will need the leaf blower's magic when everything dries. For now, it's so nice to have the leaf dust settled. My nose appreciates that.

Happy weekend, and thanks for stopping by and leaving some love! If you haven't used clear card bases AND the new CTMH papers, what are you waiting for?

CTMH Clear Scalloped Card Base, Olivia papers, Barn Red ink, White Daisy Just Blooms, Autumn brads, front sentiment "The Present", inside sentiment "Notes of Prayer (Verve), CTMH sheer ribbon

Felicity Card

Clear card front

Inside the card

We're getting the effects of Hermine today. Two inches of rain fell last night, and even more today, but we're happy since our grass, trees, and flowers all need the moisture.

It was a great day to play in the studio!
I love creating with the clear card bases from CTMH!

This birthday greeting is for a very special man who will soon celebrate his 89th birthday, God willing. He likes flowers and nature. And the Felicity paper colors & patterns are just perfect for this guy!

I learned to make the paper flower at the July Unit Meeting at Deb Butler's (my awesome upline) in Ohio!

I used: CTMH Clear Card base, Felicity* papers, Shimmer Gold brad (new fall item!), Nature's Ambience Chocolate Rub-on, "From Me to You" and "Cherish the Moment" stamps, Twilight and Autumn Terracotta inks

* the quality or state of being happy!
