Celebrate the Occasion

After watching the Art and Soul webisode, I was determined to try the Stazon ink on a clear acrylic card. Wow. It takes practice! I need MORE practice! The trick is to place the stamp and then lift directly up--carefully--to avoid smudging. Next time I'll try the black Stazon.
I used all Close To My Heart products for this man-card. To give the cake image on the front some dimension, I used a lot of pop squares. The cake pops right onto your table (well, almost). All ya need is a fork and a napkin.

It's a good day to stay in and warm. My feet love the warm air vent in my little studio. (It feels almost as good as a furry dog would lying across my feet. I can picture that furry dog, and wait patiently for the new dog day.)

BTW, I mentioned to DH that the studio seems so much smaller lately. He just smiles and flips the remote to another football game. I sometimes wonder if anyone would miss me if I were buried under all the pretty papers and embellies. Please, please call me for dinner.

Happy crafting! Thanks for stopping to visit!

If you leave me a comment, double thanks! (I get many lookers, but only a few faithful commenters.) I do appreciate your taking the time to leave a little love!

Remembering Herb & God's Promises

One month ago we made a roadtrip to the Thumb of Michigan to say goodbyes to DH's oldest brother, Herb, who died suddenly when the three brothers were on a vacation together.

We are so grateful we got to spend some time with Herb before they left, and were able to celebrate his birthday.
We are so thankful that three of the brothers were able to travel and sightsee together and make wonderful memories. Herb loved to travel and hike in the mountains and see God's beautiful creation.

Before the guys left, I had used "Everyday Celebration" to create a two-page layout to document the brothers' time together, hoping to add flip flaps showing their scenic photos. I'll do that on different pages now.
Instead, I've used the layout to remember Herb, all God's blessings to him, and His promises to us.

The first page of the layout has a hidden journaling section behind the photo. The second page shows the surviving siblings--DH (third from left) with his brothers and sister.
Thank You, God, for making Herb Your child through Baptism, and for keeping him in Your everlasting arms. We trust we'll see him in heaven someday.

The Good News:

God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes and is baptized will be saved. John 3:16

If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Everyday Celebration Layout

Rarely, rarely do I create a layout before I have even taken the photos! This was somewhat of a brain-drain for me. :)

Today I played with the new Close To My Heart "Everyday Celebration" card kit papers & embellies along with some chocolate rub-ons and CTMH buttons & waxy flax to create this layout (and a few cards that I haven't photographed yet). Friends, this kit is available only through Sept. 30th or while they last! Contact me to find out how you can get a kit FREE!

DH's two brothers are visiting this weekend, and I'll probably have to bribe them with Budweisers to allow me to get their photos together--maybe some real action shots. Argyle, football, beer, hoagies, recliners ... we'll see what shows up in the photos tomorrow.

Page 1 is for a vertical 5 x 7 photo (Reflections, p. 46 recipe for "Sidebar Photo Accent"), and page 2 is for a horizontal 5 x 7 photo and 3 small photos along the bottom (Reflections, p. 49 for "Sidebar Understated"). On page 2 along the left side, I'll add a strip of vellum on which I've journaled over the vertical blue dotted paper. Will post when finished!

But now I must bake brownies and a birthday cake for a celebration tomorrow evening--THREE September birthdays in the family!
