My Dear Friend, Wendy ...

is Unforgettable.

She lived her life to the fullest.
She was "Jesus with skin on" to others.
She was one of the best teachers ever.
She laughed. She cared. She cried. She shared.
She walked her talk.
What an example Wendy was for me and others who knew her!

Cancer invaded her body. But cancer didn't rule or consume her.
Her love for her Lord, her family, her students, and her friends gave her life reason and purpose.

She's at perfect peace with Jesus now. Last week He called her to leave this earth and be with Him. Though sad for her family to lose her in this world, I'm so happy to know and to trust the promise Jesus gives to all who believe in Him:

"I am the resurrection and the life...he who believes in Me will live, even though he dies, and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die." (John 11:25-26)  As a Christian, I trust God's promise that Jesus has prepared our heavenly home for us!

Two years ago when Wendy and her family visited us, we made cards together. She liked the Unforgettable papers and colors. I snapped this photo of her holding one of her cards. She's truly an unforgettable sister-friend.

Hodge Podge Layouts

"Unforgettable" papers, Stickease, and Sorbet Ribbon made this graduation layout easy and fun.

Basic black cardstock, distressed photo edges, vellum journaling section, red bling flowers from M*****l's, CTMH White Rubons and "Hodge Podge" letters give this layout a dramatic look.
Thanks for stopping by! Take a minute and leave some love.

Pregnancy Album -- Unforgettable Papers

Unforgettable papers from Close To My Heart are one of my favorite sets--the sorbet and juniper colors are so rich and the Asian-style flowers give it such a girly look for this pregnancy album. It's a special gift for a young woman due to have her first baby in early April.

The album is designed so that the couple can add their photos and journaling on the pages.

I've provided pop-dots so the couple can finish the back cover themselves. They can take the "My Pages Talk" recorder (a 30 second sound byte device) to their doctor's appointment to record the baby's heartbeat. Or if they choose, they can record their own short sweet messages for their child and attach the recorder to the back cover. Then when he or she is older, they can play the recorded message and listen together!

Sweet, huh?! I {heart} making these special gift items! Please email me at janehaaspaperart[at]gmail[dot]com if you'd like to order a custom gift for someone. A sampling of my paper art is in the left sidebar.

Thanks for looking!

The FINAL Final

A celebration is in order! Our DD Bethany took her FINAL final exam in graduate school, and is so glad to be finished with classes. We're all so happy for her, and so glad she's entering her professional life as a doctor of chiropractic with only one more semester of clinicals and then a Spring 2010 graduation.

I'm especially thankful she's willing to adjust me and keep my skeletal and muscular system fine tuned!

This is the "dream" card I sent to her. The Unforgettable papers match the Memory Keeper Box and Album I gave her last year for her birthday. Unforgettable is an appropriate theme for her last four years of hard work, patience, acquiring patients, and showing strong commitment to accomplishing her goal.

Here's Bethany at 19 months old, looking through my huge sunglasses--we had wonderful hopes and dreams for her then, as we continue to have. (Like that Clydesdale tee?!)

And here's Bethany now, a beautiful young woman with so much to give. She's an awesome daughter, sister, aunt to two cute little girls, granddaughter, niece, and wonderful friend to many. And so much more!

We pray God blesses her richly as she uses her RN and DC skills, shows her nurturing, caring self to others, and provides healing care to those in need.

Dr. Bethany!
Continue to DREAM.

Her thanks-filled mama,

"Wiper" Card -- Unforgettable Papers

It's a bird! It's a plane! Wait...it's a wiper card!
It's my first try at this design, and I'm sure the next will have fewer mistakes, but I'm glad I got up at 6 a.m. after a huge thunderstorm went through and stayed awake enough to create this.
Close To My Heart: Unforgettable paper packet; juniper and sorbet ink colors
The weekend workshop participants might find this one fascinating!
What I will do: make another wiper card.
What I won't do: use the lacy doily punch. Couldn't get my corners clean as a whistle as I would have liked. I'll try a corner rounder to create neater scallops the next time.
It was a fun start to my day, in addition to applying to another health insurance company with the help of our insurance man, Bill -- now I'm crossing my fingers and toes and praying for acceptance for this application.
If you need a great insurance person who goes above and beyond to help someone, Bill's the man. Check out his web site here.
God bless your day real good--

Unforgettable Card Holder & Cards

This weekend I'm hosting a CTMH workshop for participants to make a note card holder and four cards of their choice using the Unforgettable papers and many different embellishments.
I really like the Asian flair with the Juniper, Sorbet, and Blush ink colors, and the Aspirations stamp set.

I didn't do any paper layering on the note card holder--just simple random stamping.
Here's the note card holder closed ...

and open, showing a couple of the stamped envelopes.

Here are a few of the sample cards ... I have eight different ones designed!

And here's a circle card too with lots of Liquid Glass ...

I've been home a week, and am still not feeling totally recovered from our road trip and family reunions. The high heat and humidity have been brutal, and now we're getting the strong winds and rain, with a few tornado warnings now and then. The gardens and yards are very happy!
Hearing the raindrops just makes me want to sleep. I put some '80s Motown music on yesterday and today while I scrapped, and that helped me stay in the groove to get some things accomplished!
Enjoy!

Unforgettable Gift Set

I used the CTMH "Unforgettable" Level 2 Paper Packet, Stickease, Fancy Cut Botanicals, Clear Sparkles, Sassy Strands, Square Window Charm, and a lot of Liquid Glass for these items--Close To My Heart's Memory Keeper Box, 9 x 9 inch accordion album, and birthday card.

Colors of papers and inks are Juniper, Sorbet, and Cocoa. Stamps are from the sets of Adorning Corners, Say It In Style, and Special Friendship. Ribbon is Sheer Elegance. The card design is a template in CTMH CEO Jeanette Lynton's Originals book.

This is a good example of how easy, fun, and simple CTMH products are to use!
