Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday! Swing, swing!

This little swing card is for our granddaughter's 8th baptismal birthday anniversary. Doves and pearls are extra special because of biblical references.

I'll add a little handwritten note in cursive (yay, she's learning cursive this school year!) to remind her that God has made her His own dear child, and that He is ALWAYS with her!

I'm feeling like a Rumplestiltskin who has awakened after a long, long, non-creative nap (though I guarantee you I haven't been sleeping or napping). My life these past few years has been FULL of roadtrips and caregivings, grandchild care, and friend-care days. Now that school has begun full-time for a couple grands and childcare has become part-time, along with elder-care part-time, I am truly hoping and praying I can get back to using all the wonderful Close To My Heart and other paper stash products in my studio for awesome causes and events!

Thank you for stopping by and renewing your hellos and comments. I hope to stay back in the mojo and share more as time goes by!

The papers are inks are sweet leaf and crystal blue from CTMH packets. The Happy Birthday stamp is from the Party Banners set, and the bird stamp is from VERVE.

Remember to make your envelope pretty by stamping it too!

Blessings,
Jane

Easter Journaling with PML Cards

When I began to design this two-page layout of our granddaughters,
I wanted to hide my journaling
so that someday each of them could read my thoughts
about this very special Easter Day in 2011
when they were 3 1/2 and 1 1/2 years old.

I decided to use two cards from the Picture My Life Chantilly Scrapbook Program
to serve as the hidden journaling cards behind their photos.

A loop of shimmer tape provides a pull for each card.

I'll write on the pullout cards in my printing for Ella and Beatrice.
I think it's special to showcase our handwriting, don't you?

Here's a closer view:

I used CTMH products (except for the background papers, from my stash.
I chose them because the floral and chevron colors coordinated so well
with the Easter photos):

Dimensional elements banner shapes
Irresistables Letters inked in Pear Ink
Pink Sequins
Chantilly paper packet pink paper
CTMH ribbon

Other:  PaperStudio background papers

Thanks for stopping by my blog! Happy Spring!

Spring -- Here to Stay?

It feels like winter. It looks like winter. It even smells like winter. Snow is predicted these next few days. Really? I think it's truly April Fooling us today!

With the help of the Artiste Cricut Cartridge from Close To My Heart to cut the letters, the birdy, and the butterflies, this Spring-y fireplace banner is finally hanging and providing some Spring cheer in our great room.

I backed the light beige burlap with Ivory Cardstock to give it some strength. Spring colored papers are all from Close To My Heart, and I used the dimensional elements flowers from CTMH for some pop along the top ribbon.

Now it's time to get back to making a big batch of chili! I will NOT report on any snowfalls here or elsewhere!

Blessed Easter Season!

Jane

The Road to OZ

Here's a fast and easy two-page layout
I made for Miss E's memory book.

She requested a Wizard of Oz party for her 5th birthday.
But as you can see, she is quite the fast-change artist.
She started out wearing her Dorothy dress
(shown in the Flip Flaps in the final layout below encased in
the Memory Protectors),
and changed to a favorite dance costume (layout above)
before we lighted the candles on her pizza and cupcakes!

FLIP FLAPS have always been one of my favorite CTMH products!
I used 5 Flip Flaps on each photo mat
and all the birthday photos tell the story of the party.
In place of one of the photos, I added a 4 x 6 inch journaling section.

Flip Flaps come in a variety of sizes--they're awesome!
Click HERE to see them in the new Autumn/Winter Idea Book--
scroll to page 122 and find them at the top right!

The Dorothy gingham and red buttons were from my stash.

The stamps are from the "Look Who's ..." set
and the inks are Cranberry and Dutch Blue.

With Flip Flaps:

Happy memory-making!

New Cricut Cartridge--Artiste

The July 2012 Close To My Heart Convention in Dallas has ended, and one of the most exciting announcements has been the introduction of the new Cricut Collection, Artiste. This cartridge will be available beginning on August 1.

I'm a big fan of CTMH's exclusive cartridges, and I can't wait to get my hands on this new one! I've had so much fun with the first cartridge, Art Philosophy. If you haven't tried this product from CTMH, don't hesitate to get started!

For $99, you get --
1 - Cricut cartridge with 700 Images: Font, Shapes and 3D Items
3 - My Acrylix D-size Stamp Sets
3 - 12" x 9" Dimensional Elements in coordinating shapes

Only two shapes are repeated--for convenience--from the Art Philosophy cartridge: the circle and the square. All of the remaining 698 images are totally new!

This cartridge features themed projects, interactive cards, awards and more. Cup cake liners, invitations and party favors will coordinate and come together easily for your next celebration.

Email me at janehaas7[at]gmail[dot]com if you want to pre-order the ARTISTE!

The new Idea Book is live to customers on August 1. I can place your order or you will be able to order one directly from my CTMH website. Delivery is always directly to your doorstep!

Contact me for more info or if you have questions.

It's a Winter Wonderland Somewhere

A year ago, we had snowstorm after snowstorm, compiled with ice storms.

This year, I'm happy to look at last year's snow photos.

Yes, I do enjoy sledding down our backyard hill.

No, DH doesn't enjoy snow-blowing.

Thank You, God, for this mild winter so far! We both agree that we could easily be Padre Island snowbirds.

I used CTMH Wonderland papers, big dimensional alphabets, Sparkles, Let It Snow stamp set, Twilight ink, and an Art Philosophy Cricut-cut snowflake with a Juniper Twinkle brad.

All Stacked Up--Sweetheart

See Jane.
See Jane papercraft.
See Jane LOVE the new CTMH products!

I used:

"All Stacked Up" card recipe from Wishes by Jeanette Lynton, page 59
CTMH NEW Kraft paper & Kraft border
NEW Sweetheart paper packet Level 2 (the guy-sides in plaid & black/gray dots)

Stamp Sets: NEW Polka Dot Alphabet; The Gift of Love; Heartfelt

NEW Dimensional Elements Hearts
NEW Smoothie Ink pad and Marker

Baby Pink Embossing Powder
Versamark Ink pad
Heat embossing tool

Foam squares
Hemp

When the baby pink embossed heart looked too faded, I stamped over the embossing a few times with the plaid heart from Heartfelt in Smoothie to give it a little darker color.
Inside, I layered the Kraft border on the smoothie plaid paper strip.
Sentiment inside:
Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength;
Loving someone deeply gives you courage.

Glad you stopped by to look at my paper art!

B's First Birthday

It's fun getting back to creating layouts with papers and embellishments--especially when I have a cute subject such as our grandgirl Beatrice.

She's every bit as cute and sweet and fun in real life ... and she's quite the little firecracker, not wanting to sit still too long or to cuddle, always off running to catch her sister Ella. Lately Beatrice has been saying more words (her favorite this past week has been "hat"), and always chimes in to be sure she's heard.

I love these grandparenting days! Yesterday DH and I got to have morning play together with the grandgirls, then take both GGs to their library story times and have lunch AND nap time with them. After nap time we read Mary Poppins and made some story characters who giggled with us and those characters floated straight to the ceiling for their tea time. We laughed and told jokes and they kept bobbing back to the ceiling as Uncle Albert and his friends always do in the story. I think Ella was going to take Uncle Bert to bed with her. (I failed to get his photo! Picture a pleasingly plump, bald, mustached jolly soul who loves to laugh and pop his vest buttons.)

Glad you stopped for a visit! I hope your day is merry and bright!

A Dog and His Boy

This photo depicts Bryan and Torrie's "BFF" -- they are Buds --
nothing compares to a boy and his dog-love.

Bryan is off to college now, studying to be a physical therapist.
I've never met a more caring, kind, compassionate young man.
He spends time with his neighbors, and during his summers,
he gives of himself by doing mission work
and rebuilding projects in the storm-stricken south.

My parents are so blessed to have known Bryan since his birth
and to have him and his parents for their neighbors.

Now they just don't get to see Bryan often enough.
But Torrie does come by for her treats.

Twitterpated Display Album

I've been working on a Close To My Heart display album for a baby shower gift. I'm using Twitterpated paper packets and the coordinating Stickease,
along with coordinating ribbons--a natural pick
for the nature-loving family.
This matches the "for baby" card posted previously.

Here are some sample pages.
The album begins with "The Day You Were Born"
and then each following page is a designated "month" milestone,
ending with the 12 month "happy birthday" page
on the back inside cover.
The parents can add their baby's milestone photos
and their comments/memories to the monthly pages that flip.

A new baby is always God's sign that He wants His world to continue!
This baby has been anxiously awaited and will be dearly welcomed.
Her parents will teach her of God's love and of the importance
of caring for His beautiful world.
I'm looking for a special verse for the back of the album.
So...there's always more work to do, a happy, fun work,
from my heart to your hands.

A photo of the finished product is to come,
bedecked with lottsa ribbons along the top!
A girl hasta have some ribbons!

So please check back in a few days!

Moon Doggie Splash Layout

Summer fun at our house includes playing in water ANY way we can--the kiddie pool, a sprinkler, squirt guns, watering cans, the rec center pools and fountains. You get it. Summer in St. Louis can be nearly INtolerable, but a little more tolerable with water play.

Here are our grand-girls, my favorite subjects to scrap!

Ella, a new "Three", has the most fun pouring water down the front of her swimsuit or down OUR fronts and then giggles herself silly! Beatrice, 8 months in these pix, is just plain happy to sit, splash, and splash some more. Neither ever wants to get out of the pool. So each is a prune by the time she gets towel-dried & ready for story time and the blessing of A/C.

We'll feel so warm when we look at these layouts and reminisce during the winter months!

I used: Moon Doggie papers, colonial white cardstock, big brads, dimensional elements, Indian Corn Blue & Desert Sand inks, August Word Puzzle stamps, waxy flax

Merry Christmas in August!

It's "Jingle All the Way" as the Christmas music plays here.
Today I got to play with the '09 CTMH Christmas papers called "Jingle" and I finished two 2-page layouts using our 2009 family Christmas photos.

It made me feel at least 10 degrees cooler.

I used:
CTMH Jingle Paper Levels 1 & 2
and Stickease
Juniper Grosgrain Ribbon
Dimensional Element Stars & Snowflakes
Prisma Glitter
Liquid Glass
Sheer Ribbon
Sparkles and Itty Bitty Sparkles
(aqua jewels not CTMH)
Flip Flaps (not pictured,
but I layered a few on each Memory Protector Page)

Layout 2, Page 1 needs something across the bottom--
I may journal on vellum here.
If you have a good idea for me, please chime in!

This is my second post today,
so please scroll down for "Olivia."
Thanks for looking & leaving some love.

You Rock

May is a month of many celebrations--
birthday cakes for DH and DD
and Mother's Day too!
I combined photos from our family events
and used the rich, colorful You Rock level 2 paper packet.

I inked the dimensional elements stars and circles
and did a little journaling on the shapes.

Here are two sets of Flip Flaps
that I added to the top of the Memory Protectors for the left page.
I love Ella's expression as Emily begins to blow out some candles
on the Pina Colada (very cool & refreshing) birthday cake.

Very slowly but surely, I'm getting caught up
and moving on to Father's Day soon!

Thanks for stopping to look and to leave some love for me.

we {heart} spring

This is my third post today -- please scroll to see all of them! Then leave some love in the comment box. Thanks for looking!

A visit to the botanical gardens always makes us smile.

What a beautiful world God created!

The colors in the tulips, redbud trees, and alyssum were so brilliant during our visit. We must get back there soon to see the masses of roses blooming.

Wedding Memory Keeper Box

Our DD is a bridesmaid this coming weekend for her grad school friend, so I decided to make the special couple a monogrammed memory keeper box to store their special paper items such as announcements, shower invitations, wedding invitation, and their wedding service.

They've chosen to have a black & white wedding color scheme, and the Silhouette papers are perfect for this project.

Blessings as you begin your married life together, Anthony and Tonya, and may you live and love more each day!

Twilight & Crystal Blue Layout with Flip Flaps

What would I do without those great Flip Flaps from CTMH?!

It's so nice to get to see more than 3 photos on a page, especially when I just can't narrow the photos down to so few.

Here, on the left hand page, I layered vertical photos inside the Flip Flaps (which are attached to the top of the Memory Protector page) to show more of our fun time at the sandy beach.

If you want to know more about Flip Flaps and where to find them, please contact me, or see page 104 in the Summer Idea Book. It's simple to order online by clicking here.

Art Keeper Box

It's sturdy! It's stackable! It's colorful! It's personalized!
It's an art keeper box!
This one will hold all the special projects Ella makes for our frig display--her Winnie the Pooh pages and little love notes.
The dimensions are 13.5 x 14.3 inches, so it holds nice sized papers and items.

Let me know if I can create a special art or memorabilia keeper box for someone you love...a soldier's family, a preschooler (or kid of any age), a sports enthusiast, grandparents, teacher, pastor, and more.

I used Close To My Heart:
Magic Moments papers & Stickease
Pop Dots
Liquid Glass
and a chipboard box with lift-off lid from LSS

Key To My Heart Layout

Can't sleep? Can't dance? Don't feel like scrubbing the oven? Scrapbook! It works for me!
For this special layout, I used the new CTMH Key To My Heart papers, along with Fancy Cut Botanicals, Dimensional Elements, Juniper, Tulip, and Chocolate inks, Sassy Strands, Sorbet ribbon & ric rac, Chocolate marker, and the September Word Puzzle stamps.
Ella's Aunt B will get to journal in the inked journaling box. (I used the KTMH journaling stamp there, and masked one edge so that I could reverse it, and make it twice the size by stamping side by side.) There's so MUCH to write about little ee!
The CTMH Reflections book gave me ideas for the one-photo per page layouts. If you haven't seen this helpful resource, check it out on my CTMH Idea Book link.
A scrapbooker will never have "brain freeze" with all of Jeanette Lynton's practical resource books! In fact, they've been known to keep me cutting and glueing into the wee hours of the morning.
