Criss Cross Card in Chantilly

Chantilly is one of the new paper packets in the Spring/Summer Close To My Heart Idea Book.

The paper colors and patterns are so pretty! Patterned papers are different on each side, and each has a beautiful border pattern too.

I used the scalloped border on the insert for this card, and I cut one of the flower shapes from the large patterned paper to make the pull-out tab on the insert.

A strip of silver shimmer tape, some Sparkles, and handmade crocheted flowers finish this easy, "girly" card!

Dream Pop Easel Card

Here's another fun card design using the Dream Pop paper packet, itty bitty sparkles, the Quick Cards Butterfly (stamp A1120), and the new Washi Tape (polka dots are so fun with the chevron papers!).

Photos don't begin to show the poppin' patterns of the stripes, dots, and chevrons in CTMH's new embossed cardstock papers -- just love those in this packet!

I turned this into a Mother's Day card--a hidden stamped sentiment the recipient sees when placing the card flat.

The Quick Cards Butterfly stamp says: "Love: as delicate as a butterfly's wings; as strong as the circle of life."

I hope you've enjoyed seeing my paper art and browsing my blog! Please leave a comment and bookmark my site for future eye candy!

Topstitch Mother's Day Card

Wishing a happy Mother's Day to our DD Emily -- mommy of two precious daughters. Ella and Beatrice provide delightful days for her and daddy Christopher, and their toddler and baby antics keep them in stitches! In everything, give thanks (yes, even for the tantrums and teething, but especially for the giggles and glee that the little girls bring to all our lives).

{I used CTMH's Topstitch paper packet, polka dot ribbon, spiral clips, big white brads, Blush, Chocolate, Topiary, and Sweet Leaf inks, blending pen, and stamp sets Simple Beauty (card front sentiment), Delight in Everything (flowers), and With Love (inside sentiment: Happy everything). Lots of pop-dots for the layers. I adapted the card recipe from "Keep It Secret" on p. 75 of Jeanette Lynton's card making book "Wishes." Plaid ribbon from M*****l's.}

Caboodle Card

Heeeeeere's Caboodle! A paper packet from the Close To My Heart Spring Idea Book. Love the springy colors and patterns.

This card is for my very special & dear mom ... wish I could be with her for Mother's Day Tea. Gotta get it in the mail. I wrote my own sentiments inside. Five hundred miles are between us and when we do get together, we make the MOST of our time.

I made the tissue paper flower after seeing the Beate Johns flower on the Splitcoaststampers site. It's easy. Just cut various sizes of flower shapes. (I cut these free hand.) Pierce a hole in the center for a big brad. Use the finger ink sponge to dab a little ink color (heavenly blue here) on the layers. When dry, scrunch the tissue paper toward the brad's center until you're happy with the petals' look. I started darker on the bottom layers and lightened up as I worked toward the top layers.

I got the patchwork idea/design from a papercrafter and unfortunately didn't record her name. If you know who it is, please let me know and I'll give her the credit due!

Happy Mother's Day to ALL you moms out there! You have THE hardest job in the world. God bless you as you love and teach your children well.

Caboodle Paper Packet Level 2, Heavenly Blue Big Brad, CTMH buttons and waxy flax, Simple Stitches stamps, Sweet Leaf and Heavenly Blue CTMH ribbons, Simple Beauty Mother's Day sentiment stamp, Sorbet, Sweet Leaf and Chocolate inks. Tag from M*****l's.

Fancy Cut Botanicals Floral Bouquet Mother's Day Card

I sure had some major mojo going last evening to accomplish this design in one studio sitting! Those three doses of caffeine I consumed did indeed help. In fact, even after a morning of babysitting, I'm still running high on those fumes.

The CTMH Fancy Cut Botanicals make creating fun & simple!

I used the same cutting pattern I had designed for the birthday card that I previously posted. I added more flowers--botanicals and also small summer paper whites--along with a stamped and cut paper butterfly, heart shaped leaves, pearls and Sparkles, Liquid Glass, and M's ribbon and CTMH sheer white ribbon.

Inks I used include Garden Green, Olive, Twilight, Heavenly Blue, and Amythest.

If you want to try this design (which I've adapted from seeing Jennifer's on a SCS's post a while back), here are my cutting directions:

Cut a 12 x 12 inch piece of cardstock to be used for the flower pot and the card's insert background into one 7 x 12 inch and one 5 x 12 inch piece.

Using the 7 x 12 inch cs, score at 5 inches and at 10 inches. Scallop punch along the 2 inch top section you'll fold down toward the front for the flower pot "lip." Then adhere the lip to the front. Fold back at the 5 inch score (the bottom of the flower pot).

Use a pencil to make small marks on the back of the flower pot 1/2 inch in from each of the top sides, and 1 inch in from each of the bottom sides to make the "wedge" shape. Use paper trimmer to cut from the top mark to the bottom mark carefully through all cs layers on each of the sides. Then adhere flower pot sides together at the widest part.

Cut remaining 5 inch piece of cs down to 4.5 inches x 7 inches for the insert background.

Cut a lighter shade of cs 4 x 5.5 inches and stamp with sentiment; then adhere to the insert background.

Cut a CTMH tag to fit your purpose (see birthday card) & stamp & distress edges. OR cut a tag cs 1.5 x 3.75 inches for your stamped sentiment (see MD card) and its background cs 1.75 x 4 inches. Punch a hole and attach using waxy flax or hemp.

Happy card-making and blessings!
